# Real Part

Definition : Let $a+bi$ be a complex number, $a$ is the real part of $a+bi$, hence $\Re{(a+bi)} = a$

The real part of a complex number is the part that is not a multiple of $i$. For example let $x = 2.24 + 11.2i$$\Re{(x)} = 2.24$. The symbol for real part can be either $\Re{(x)}$ or $\mathrm{Re}(x)$.
